When people are needing a large renovation on their current home, often times people wonder if it’s easier to move or if it’s easier to remodel your current home into what you need it to be. At Bennett Contracting, we believe that you can make your current home exactly what you want and need it to be rather than moving.
Why Remodel and Not Move
You are increasing your property value.
When you buy a home, it is more likely than not the largest investment you will ever make. As you continue to make updates to your home with new windows, siding, updating bathroom or kitchen fixtures, all of this is increasing your home’s property value.
You can customize for your lifestyle.
A home is great because it can be changed to your needs. If you are a growing family, what used to work in your home might not work anymore, and you can change your home to fit exactly what you need it for. Most everything in a home can be changed the layout, flooring, cabinets, room size, closets, all to fit your needs. A home has the potential to change and grow with your family.
You can change a home, but not the location.
What you can’t fix or change in a home is the location. If you have gotten close to your neighbors or love the location of your home, even if you move close by you are still changing your commute and what is in close proximity to you. Another factor could be the schooling district, if you love your child’s school and don’t want them to move schools, this could also be a deciding factor. If you are comfortable and love the location of your home, that is something you can’t get back if you move.
Remodel Your Home for now & the Future
This Delmar couple had a unique situation for Bennett Contracting to help resolve. Their parents were getting too old to continue taking responsibility for an adult sibling with special needs. They had decided to open their Delmar home, but wanted to create a space with privacy. They contacted Jaime Cashier and her design firm J. Cashier Interiors to help create an addition that could meet these very specific requirements.
The called Bennett Contracting because they had used us to do a remodeling project at their summer home on Crooked Lake and were pleased with the results. Bennett worked with the designer to create this bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and common family room. The project included a floating mantel over the fireplace, new handrails for the stairs, a wine cellar and new hardwood floors.
