These Latham homeowners came to Bennett with an idea to reconfigure their kitchen dining and sunporch areas. The plan was to remove the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, enlarge doorways and add more matching storage, transforming the heart of the house. Keen cooks, frequent entertainers as well as regular visits from children and grandchildren required careful planning for storage, as well as access for children’s snacks. A narrow island packed with storage included a small second sink, as well as a small amount of seating. A tall pantry/display area meant easy access for all their small appliances and serving ware. A small bar area with a beverage center tucked in the corner directs the youngest members of the family out of the main traffic area in the heart of the kitchen. The dining room table moving into the sun porch, with its beautiful slate tile floors ensures plenty of room for the family to eat together. Replacing a seldom used desk area in this room, the new built in area complementary color adds storage, as well as glass cabinets for display topped by a hard wearing granite top for serving. The color palette kitchen area is an antique white paint, paired with the beautiful Kelvingrove design from Cambria. The new dining area highlights a custom paint color dash chosen to complement the existing slate tile floor.
