This retired couple moved to Delmar from the City to be close to their grandchildren. It was a shock when one of them had a stroke.
They needed to quickly convert the bathrooms in their new home to handicap accessible status immediately.
They asked around and got the same name from everyone, call Bennett Contracting. Project Manager Steve worked with designer Sarah to get the project going. The owner had a background in mechanical drawing and drew up some plans to move everything around. Designer Sarah turned those into a workable design. Note the wheelchair ramp into the shower, special vanity height, and location of multiple grab bars. Even the towel bars are anchored to blocking in the wall and rated to double as grabs bars.
Lead carpenter Vinny did most of the work and became a trusted member of the household since the owners were busy with doctors and rehab. The special vanity will convert back to a conventional vanity in the future with a drawer section that is currently being stored in the basement.
